🌸 spending time with people I care for. 🌸
As I celebrated my mum's 52nd birthday recently, I have become more reflective on certain aspects of life, more-so in cherishing the time I have with the people who are the most important to me. Sometimes, we don't realise what is in front of us as we tend to be ignorant of general surroundings. Heads are down in phones, people don't look at each other or converse. I suppose this applies not just to life but also work - mostly as I know what it feels like to be in an environment where I feel suppressed, unable to express myself freely.
The older I get, the more I realise that it is important to be around the people you care for the most. There is more to life than continuous working. What is the point of sacrificing your precious time and energy, completing mundane tasks which have no purpose in life? Besides, time with people you care about is valuable. The thing with time is you can never get it back, there is no reset button (although at times I wish there was when it came to fixing certain situations or changing outcomes for the better).
When I am around the people I care for, there are opportunities to create memories that I can cherish. Sure, taking photos can be useful for a scrapbook but when I recall them by heart, it shows that I am paying attention to what is going on around me and this is something I am working on. I feel it is quite sad when people have nothing else going on for them outside of work, it shows there is no life, no hobbies, no substance, nothing. This isn't me and it will never be.
