🌸 enigma review. 🌸

It's been a while since I last reviewed a restaurant; the next review is for the restaurant Enigma. This is a pan-Asian restaurant which features a range of foods from countries such as China, Singapore, Japan and more. With this restaurant, there is no alcohol served; drinks mainly consist of mocktails or simple things like a glass of water.

When you enter the restaurant, you're met with a stunning waterfall hallway and interior with shades of purple, white and gold. It gives you the feeling of entering an expensive gallery or exhibition + there is air conditioning which is suitable for the warmer weather.

To start off the meal, I shared a salt and pepper calamari dish with my mum. I expected the calamari (squid for people who don't know) to be small in size (this is because in Chinese restaurants, I am used to it being that way). There were 4 pieces arranged neatly on a fan-shaped plate with a garnish + two sauces (one which was tartar and another which had chilli in it). The calamari dish was quite crispy and not too oily (personally, I don't like overly fried foods).

My main dish was nasi goreng, a Singaporean rice meal consisting of prawn, chicken, beansprouts, onion and chilli mixed in a paste. Jasmine rice is used in the dish (however in another buffet restaurant I used to go to, white basmati rice was used). The dish wasn't overly spicy and was topped off with a fried egg. I enjoyed the meal but only managed Âľ of it as it was filling.

Dessert consisted of vanilla ice cream which was served in a glass cup; for decoration an upside-down cone was added as-well as chocolate sauce and a mint garnish. Because I have gone off chocolate (due to discovering last year that my favourite brands use palm oil, a cheap substitute for real cocoa), I didn't like the sauce much. The vanilla ice-cream didn't have much in terms of flavour for me; usually I am more accustomed to a creamier texture but this wasn't the case.

Drinks consisted of a passion fruit martini mixed with lime and orange juice. The drink was served with bubbles (produced by a machine the waiter used) which makes for a fun decorative experience. I do have a sweet tooth and often crave sweets during the time of the month (girls, you know!).

Overall, I would come back here. The bill came to around ÂŁ95 (as I attended with my mum + most starters and main dishes were around ÂŁ18 to ÂŁ20 depending on what you had). The ambience as-well as the customer service was excellent, mainly as wait staff were attentive to needs.

I hope you enjoy my short review of this restaurant; there will be more to come soon. Until then, sayonara for now.
